Reaction Torquemeters

Reaction Torquemeters are available in several styles, but share one common characteristic...these devices do not have rotating components. They are simple, inexpensive transducers...the torque equivalent of a simple load cell.

If you have a static or quasi-static application requiring the measurement of torque, this type of torquemeter will be your most economical choice.

The various styles are:

Hollow-flanged, available in ranges from 60 lbf-in to 100,000 lbf-in.

"Hollow" indicates that there is a thru-hole down the torque axis.

Solid-flanged, available in ranges from 1 lbf-in to 750,000 lbf-in.

"Solid" indicates that there is no hole down the torque axis.

Solid-shaft, available in ranges from 1 lbf-in to 300,000 lbf-in.

"Solid" indicates that there is no hole down the torque axis.

Square Drive, available in ranges from 300K lbf-in to 3M lbf-in.

For very high torque applications.

CF2700V_Series

C-Face, available in ranges from 50 lbf-in to 20,000 lbf-in.

The sensor fits between a C-Face motor and load.

Electrical Interface:

The C-Face series is unusual in that it includes an on-board amplifier. So this model requires external powering (+12VDC), and will return a fully linearized output signal of +/- 10 Volts, proportional to (bi-directional) torque inputs. As an alternative, the Model 703 Conditioner is a convenient and fully-featured instrument that elegantly meets all interface needs for true "out-of-the-box" convenience.

All other models above are traditional mV/V Strain Gage transducers, requiring an external AC or DC Strain Gage Amplifier. S. Himmelstein & Co. offers Models 701 and 708 for this purpose.

Model 701 & 711 Strain Gage Conditioners

The Model 703, 701 and 708 all appear similar to this photo. They differ only in their interface circuitry.

There are many benefits to pairing a Model 703, 701 or 708 instrument with your Reaction Torquemeter. These instruments are highly configurable, and include a local display, filtering, analog & digital outputs, limit checking and so on. Furthermore, when ordered as a torquemeter/cable/instrument package, a system calibration is performed at the factory for an easy "out-of-the-box" setup when you receive the system.
