This is by far the most popular Vibration Test System category. LDS Test &
Measurement is the market leader, both by worldwide sales volume and by technology
sophistication. Systems in this size category perform a variety of Sine, Random, Shock and other test profiles
defined in Military Standards and commercially-oriented Standards such as ISO and ASTM.
These models are known as "Electrodynamic" shakers. They employ an AC-driven coil on the armature, that is
suspended in a electro-magnetic field inside the shaker body. The shaker is cooled by air drawn thru an
attached duct and remote fan. Amplifiers are also totally air-cooled. In this size category, the systems are
all driven via a closed-loop Vibration Controller, which receives feedback from at least one control
accelerometer on the armature or attached fixture.
